Deadline for UKCA compliance of Construction Products revoked

Earlier this year, we highlighted the extension of the deadline requiring products under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) to carry the UKCA mark for sale in the UK. However, on September 2nd, the UK Government’s Minister for Building Safety announced that the previously set deadline of June 30th, 2025, for marking these construction products with the UKCA has now been revoked.

This deadline was initially crucial for ensuring that products falling under CPR complied with UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking requirements, distinguishing them from other goods where the CE mark remained acceptable in the UK market post-Brexit. The UK government’s focus was on mandating UKCA standards for construction-related products by 2025, aiming to maintain the highest levels of safety and performance while adopting a more flexible approach for other product categories.

This regulatory emphasis on CPR products had sparked an urgent response within the construction industry, aligning with the rigorous safety measures outlined in the Building Safety Act. Companies dealing with CPR products were encouraged to fast-track their efforts towards UKCA compliance to ensure their products remained legally marketable in the UK by the now-revoked deadline.
